Coach Lianne is a dedicated and experienced swim instructor with a passion for helping individuals of all ages develop confidence in the water. Whether working with children, adults, or competitive swimmers, she is committed to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters growth and skill development.
Coach Lianne began teaching swim instruction at the Penobscot Bay YMCA in Rockport, Maine while she was in high school, where she also swam competitively for 13 years. She was a Division III All-American and national champion at Denison University before transferring to La Salle University in Philadelphia, graduating in 2014 with a degree in communication and journalism. Lianne went on to get her master’s in exercise and sports studies from Smith in May of 2020.
Her swim coaching career began at Nitro Swimming in Austin, TX in 2015. She returned to Midcoast Maine in 2016 as the head coach of the Pen Bay Y Sailfish Swim Team before attending graduate school at Smith. While completing her masters degree, Lianne taught beginner swim lessons to undergraduate students and was an assistant coach for the collegiate team. She continued her career as an assistant swim coach at Brandeis from 2020-2021 and Dartmouth from 2021-2023 before returning to the Pioneer Valley. Lianne taught beginner swim lessons at Hampshire College in 2024 while obtaining a personal trainer certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. In June 2024, she returned to the pool deck as an assistant swim coach at Amherst College.
Coaching Experience
